Consider it Pun
This lunchtime I’ve been catching up on some of the work of the lovely Bec Hill. Watching the videos of this self-confessed “small Australian” is like coming in from a cold playground and settling down to an hour’s distraction with a box of fuzzy felts. Adults, perhaps more than children, can appreciate the tactile pleasure they offer the storyteller and Bec has discovered something similar in the glorious aesthetic of pop-up. Who doesn’t love a pop-up book? No one, that’s who. Accompanying her pull-me drawings is some rather witty animated word play. She looks delighted by her work and we are too. We’ll be keeping tabs on this one. Arf!
See Bec next at Jester Square Comedy, Leicester Square Theatre, Thurs 24th May £7 and at the Camden Head on Friday 25th May, 7.30pm £5 for Bec Hill + 1 with Matthew Robin Fisher and Josiah Norris
