Our take on all things funnyBaldwin to Star Alongside Brand
Now that 30 Rock is being axed it’s great news to hear Alec Baldwin has new projects underway with two comedy greats. The first, as yet untitled film will be directed by Woody Allen with the usual smorgasbord cast. Shooting this summer in San Francisco and New York, we shall presume it explores the relationship between an inappropriately aged older man and several brittle but sexually empowered women. Rumours are that Cate Blanchett, Sally Hawkins and Bradley Cooper are to star, a more than capable cast for such banter.
This neatly guides us to Man That Rocks the Cradle, which will see the 54-year old Baldwin team up with his Rock of Ages co-star Russell Brand. The films tells the story of an overworked husband and father-of-four who employs a super-nanny ‘kid whisperer’ to help ease his problems. The movie is based on a story by Josh Cagan and Rob McKittrick, which Cagan originally wrote as a spec script. When the news first broke, it was Samuel L Jackson who was to play the super-nanny so I wonder how long this has been kicking around for?
For a more instant Baldwin/Brand fix, Rock of Ages is being released in UK cinemas on the 8th June. Directing this metal-rocker musical adaptation is Adam Shankman, with the two stars providing Bon Jovi-style song and dance alongside Tom Cruise, Malin Akerman, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Mary J Blige and Julianne Hough. Hough is said to have become ”best friends” with Mary J. Blige since starring alongside her in the motion picture.
She recently told BANG Showbiz: ”We couldn’t be more opposite looking at each other, but we’ve now become best friends. It’s great!
”She’s a real woman, she’s so sweet. She left me a long message the other day saying I’ll be whatever you want me to be, your mother, your sister, your aunt, your friend.”
